It is not everyday you get the chance to be in the same room as others SAP users in Ireland, specially if you are an SAP employee.
Last February, 27, 2020, the modern office of Pfizer in Grange Castle (Dublin, Ireland) held the first of the two SIG Ireland of 2020, with a good representation of SAP users from Irish and UK companies using SAP technology.

Philip Adams (Ireland SIG Chair) kicked-off the event talking about the UKISUG as an organization, the events planned for the year in the country and some of the benefits of being members of the user group. He also announced the UKISUG Connect event planned the first week of December in Birmingham (UK).

Conor Riordan (Digital Finance Optimisation Director, Pfizer) gave an introduction about Pfizer. He talked about their location, their people and about the vaccines that help save life around the world.

Boris Andree (Solution Management Intelligent Robotic Process Automation) talked about how SAP Intelligent Robotic Process Automation (SAP IRPA) can help companies to achieve best-in-class RPA across SAP and non-SAP solutions. He did a demo about how the IRPA works and answered the numerous questions of the attendees.

After a coffee break, it was Colin Byrnes and Mary Clinton’s turn to share their digital journey with RPA across Pfizer Financial Supply chain. They helped the attendees to understand common terminology while working in RPA projects and they provided numerous examples based on their experience and lessons learnt.

Richard Hughes, from SAP Product Support, talked in the last presentation of the day about the Next-Generation Support offering for the intelligent enterprise, with special attention to the new real-time interaction tools.
The event finished with an exchange of questions, opinions and experiences from the attendees.

You might wonder what all of this has to do with me as an SAP Enterprise Support Advisor/Customer Success Manager, right?
By one hand, I attended the SIG Ireland so I could answer any question SAP Support Enterprise Support Customers, Preferred Care on Premise and Product Support for Large Enterprises might have. There are many ways to reach out to us in SAP but, sometimes, a face-to-face discussion is much better.
On the other hand, I knew by experience (because I used to attend other SIGs before joining SAP) that the networking experience wouldn’t disappoint. And indeed, it didn’t. I could catch up with other SAP Users I met a long time ago and I could also meet other SAP users who explained what projects they were working on and their experiences.
What I didn’t know before the event started was that I would end the day with a lot of information about IRPA and how it works. It was great to listen to my colleague Boris and I loved the demo he presented. It was also great to hear from Colin and Mary about their experiences and lessons learnt at Pfizer, it remembered me my old times as a business/technical SAP Analyst.
If you are a member of an SAP User Group, I definitively recommend you join at least one of the sessions you might be interested. They are a great place for information, experience and best practices exchange.
